Who Am I?

It sounds like a simple question, but with some thought into it, it can actually be pretty complex. I decided to write my next blog post on this so my readers can know a little more about me. I did some brainstorming about this question for a week to think about Who I Am, and I came up with a lot of answers. There are many different ‘labels’ that describe me as a person. So let’s get started.

Sister / daughter 
One of the more easier answers. I’m a valued member of the family. I help and support others in need when in need. I make positive influences on them. I’m a very fun person to be around, and serious when I need to be. I am the sister of one brother who is about six years younger than me. Therefore, I am also an excellent role model to him as well.

A learner 
I would say student, but I’m not going to stay a student forever. But I’m always learning, even when I’m 50 years old. I love learning new things, despite how hard it may be. Sometimes determination and effort is lacking, but I try my best.

A YouTuber
This one should be pretty obvious. I love doing YouTube. It is fun, and I love knowing that there is chance of helping others be happy. There are many YouTubers that I watch who constantly make me happy when I’m down, and I’m glad I can do the same for others as well.

A Gamer
Of course, being a YouTuber also means I’m a gamer (not saying that all YouTubers are gamers). But ever since I was young, I loved playing games. Some people were surprised to find out that a girl played video games, but later that stereotype kind of dissolved as we all grew older. By playing games, it helps me just get away from the world. If I’m tired, stressed, or upset, games always helps to cheer me up. Sometimes I can get a little addicted, but once I stop, it’s time to re-evaluate and put things into perspective to fix that.

I’m not a specialist or an expert or anything. It’s just that I do play piano and flute. Music was never really my strongest talents. I wouldn’t say that I’m tone deaf, but I kind of have a hard time figuring out notes. That’s why I could never really play music all that well (like beginner level). But I still really enjoy it. I most certainly enjoy listening to music, even if I don’t necessarily do so so often. I don’t listen to music for fun though. For me, music is another outlet that helps me when I’m unhappy or stressed. It helps me relax. I listen to music that means a lot to me. For example, some of the songs that I listen to are from Sean’s channel: All the Way, the remix of All the Way, What is my life (my favourite), and Dude’s a Beast.

Apart from a musician, I would also call myself an artist. I always liked art better than music anyway. I wouldn’t say I’m the best at art, but art takes a lot time, which I don’t really have. Playing games takes up that time so I haven’t had too much time to practice. I know you can do art online and everything too, but I always liked doing it the old fasioned way, with pencil and paper. I mostly draw fanart for Sean (Jacksepticeye) and Mark (Markiplier).

Along with being a YouTuber, I am also a vlogger. On my YouTube channel, I never want it to be just games. Occasionally, I like showing little clips of my life outside of games. Though, I haven’t done one in a while, I might do one sometime very soon. Stay tuned here. But the thing with vlogs is I need to have something to show you. So feel free to leave a comment about something I should vlog about.

Just like being a musician, I wouldn’t say I’m the best chef. I’m starting to really enjoy cooking, even if I don’t do it all the time. But if someone says they like the meal I made, I always say it’s just because I’m using food they like. It’s never me using some little trick or whatever. 😄

I always love running, especially in nature. I love the freedom it brings you. It takes me away from anything that is bothering me. I’m not the best runner (I may run slower than most people), but I’ll get better, in time. Though, you really have to have a motivation to go for a run how ever many times you want. Whether it’s because you absolutely love it, or because you really want to lose weight, or if it’s because of a person. My motivation to run happens to be from Malcolm McLoughlin, also known as Sean/Jack’s older brother. I don’t know why, but ever since I read his book The Second Lap, it made me want to go for runs everyday. It inspired me.

A Reader
I am also a big reader. I love reading books, specifically genres such as science fiction, or fiction in general, and I’m also picking up horror books as another genre. The first horror book I’ve ever read was by Andrew Pyper, called The Only Child. It was pretty scary, nerve-wracking, and suspense building. I would absolutely recommend it. I just didn’t enjoy the ending too much because it just didn’t seem like the best possible ending you could’ve had. Though, from a horror standpoint, I suppose it was alright.
I also really enjoy inspirational books. Some include: The Second Lap by Malcolm McLoughlin and Minimalism by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus.

A Writer
Aside from reading, I’m also picking up writing as another one of my hobbies; freewriting. I enjoy writing about whatever I want. Sometimes it’s about personal stuff, YouTube, brainstoming for a blog post, or writing fiction or non-fiction. In fact, now that I think about it, perhaps I can write a novel in the future. That would be awesome! I don’t know what it would be about or if I will even do it, but it would definitely be a cool idea for the future, don’t you think? I recommend you guys to try it as well. It can be therapeutic as well. One time, I had an intense headache, so I just started freewriting about random stuff (I can’t remember what exactly, I just know it was very random), and my headache went away. I find that pretty cool if you ask me.

A Female Athlete
I love playing tennis and golf, not competitively but just for fun. I’ve played a few tennis games during high school, as well as a couple golf games with my dad. It’s hard to get outside and be active and just have fun, no matter how much I like the sport. I could play games for hours. But you just got to go out and do it, somehow. It’s hard to explain; I don’t even know what it is that forces me to go outside, certainly not my parents! 🙂

A Leader 
Here we go! Now we get to the good ones, the more ‘outside-the-box’ ones. This one and the rest are the ones I thought of last, as the more harder answers. I am a leader because I am able to lead others and motivate them to keep working hard without giving up. I also give good advice to people who need it. I encourage others to do their best, especially when it really matters. I also tend to always look at the positive in every situation instead of the negative.

A Motivator
As I said in the last one, I motivate others. I’d say I’m pretty good at that. I don’t know how to explain it, but I know how to keep up a person’s positive mental attitude, and to keep them growing as a person.

A Pet Lover 
I love pets, specifically dogs and cats. I love my dog with everything I have. Seriously, we’re like sisters (that’s what I keep saying anyway) because I’ve known her so long. I know when she is happy and sad, or when she wants me to brush her, etc. 😄 And the cat, as much as I annoy him and pick on him, I got to admit, I love him too. How could you not? As much of a troublemaker he is, he is still as cute as a kitty-kat. 😄

A Dreamer
I don’t know why exactly I would call myself a dreamer. It’s not like I dream of being a princess or anything. But probably because I like to think (and hope) that I’ll somehow do well on YouTube, do well in terms of my fitness, and do well acedemically. Really, doesn’t everybody? Also, taking it literally, doesn’t everybody love to dream a sweet dream while their sleeping? I sure do.

So finally, that is the end. Damn that is a loooooooong blog post, but super fun to write. This was a big topic to write and explain about too. I encourage you guys to think about this question too, and hopefully find an answer to: Who Am I? It is important to know who you truly are, otherwise how will you know where your life is headed?

Fear, it’s a strange thing. One moment you’re in a situation that seems completely normal, the next minute, you have this fear of something. Whatever that fear is, it might affect your performance, the way you think and act. It might even impact you emotionally or mentally. 
So, today I wanted to talk about some of my fears that I have and how I want to overcome them. I think it’s important to know what you’re afraid of because then you can better learn your strengths and limitations. So let’s get started! 

The Fear of Failure
I think the fear of failure is somewhat common for many people. Everyone wants to succeed with whatever they do in life, whether it is their career or perhaps a hobby of theirs that they want to improve upon. For me, I think one of my big fears involve the fear of failure, in terms of my career, YouTube, and this blog. I want to do well in a social work career, as well as my YouTube channel and this blog. If any of you don’t know my YouTube channel, the link is in the ‘About’ page. My goal for my YouTube channel is to make people happy, to take them away from anything that bothers them. That hopefully 15 or 20 minutes is enough to make you smile if nothing else can’t. On the other hand, on this blog, my goal is to motivate people with my thoughts, opinions, and feelings. To keep people going when things get tough. The same applies for my future career as a social worker. I wish to help others in need to support them with their mental health issues. I hope I can accomplish these goals to any degree as a social worker, on my YouTube channel, and this blog. 

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a fear, but it can affect performance if nothing is done to improve upon it. The main reason I get social anxiety is because of this fear I have of getting judgement or criticism from others. It’s a strange thing. In my head, everything is fine. I know I should just be myself and not worry what others think about me. Though, when I get into a social situation, I get very anxious and worried about what I say or do and how others are going to react to it. In a way, it’s like my brain creates nightmares that aren’t real. 
So something that I’ve been trying to do is enter any social situation with an open mind. By going in and thinking, “Nobody’s perfect” or “This is all for personal development” or something along those lines. In fact, two quotes that I find really helpful are:

“Learn your weaknesses and fears. Embrace them. Then nobody will be able to use them.”

So that’s pretty much it. Those are the two major fears that I currently face everyday since secondary school. I hope this helps you understand what fears you have and how to deal with it.

Travel Time

Ever wondered what Ontario, or maybe Canada in general, is like? Maybe not. Though, some of you out there might be wondering what there is to do here. This topic was a suggestion from my friend, Miko. So I thought I’d share with you three of my favourite places to visit or sights that I find interesting. So let’s get started.

There are multiple things to do in Ontario alone that are tons of fun and can be helpful for personal growth. They can be done however way you like, whether it is by yourself, with your best friend, or with your family. There are many opportunities to meet new people all over the province. There are very friendly and polite people. There are plenty of open spaces; it’s not claustrophobic. And there are plenty of beautiful sights all year round. So without delaying it any longer, here they are:

  1. Bronte Creek Provincial Park
    One amazing place to visit includes provincial parks scattered across Ontario, specifically Bronte Creek Provincial Park because that’s the one that’s closest to me. They are tons of fun for the whole family. There’s a barn where kids can play, animals to pet and feed, nature trails to hike or bike, and other activites to see at different times during the year. Some activities that are scheduled here also include charity events, such as running events for different causes. I believe there is a charity event in the Spring that’s about running for women with breast cancer and raising money for this cause. Don’t forget, pets are allowed as well. You can go visit their off-leash dog park so your dog can spend socializing as well. Fun for you and you dog. 😄
  2. Spencer Smith Park at the Lakeshore Waterfront
    Another amazing place to visit is the lakeshore waterfront. Looking out at the beautiful lake that is lake Ontario, it is a great opportunity to go for a walk, bike ride, or even just sit and chill by the beach with the one(s) you care about.😊 There’s more than a 5km trail to walk, bike, or jog on. As well as a cafe to get that glorious food that we all love so much, which include fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. The kids also have a large park to play in too, so then they won’t drive you nuts the whole time while you’re there.
  3. Toronto Zoo
    Although I haven’t been there in a long time (since I was a kid in primary school), it is still as good a place as ever to visit when you’re wondering what areas and sights to see. Especially if you enjoy animals, this might be an awesome place for you. From lions, tigers, giraffes, camels, etc. They can all be cool sights to explore.

So there’s three places to visit and explore on your own time when you are wandering around wondering what to do or when you come to visit Ontario for whatever reason. That’s the end of this blog post. Let me know if you enjoyed it.

How I feel on YouTube…

So, today I wanted to talk about something that’s been on my mind lately, and that is how I feel on YouTube.

Lately, I’ve been experiencing some form of burnout. I know that seems like a big term that is used to describe how more popular YouTubers feel, but that’s how I’m feeling. I’ve been less passionate about what I do and less interested in making videos. I still love doing it, but it’s at a point where it feels like I’m just churning out content. As if I’m just uploading video after video, without improving my skills or equipment or anything. It’s getting very mundane and I think I need a break to get my shit together. So I decided to take at least one week off from YouTube to figure out what I want to do. I’m not sure about taking two weeks off, but I’ll start with one week. I’ll still be active on social media, at least somewhat active if I decide to take a break from that part too, so it will just be YouTube that I’m taking a break from.

The reason why I am going to take a break from YouTube is because I was considering starting a new channel due to the fact that I’ve grown a lot since I started. I’ve matured from a teenager to an adult. Although, I’m still 50/50. Part of me wants to start a new channel just to start over and start fresh, but the other part of me wants to keep going on my old channel just so I can always look back on my progress, becasue if I do start a new channel, I want that to be the only channel. I want to just forget the old one. So let me know in the comments what you guys think I should do. It’s all up to you. No pressure or anything, but you guys are the ones that are actually watching my content. So I want you to decide 😄.

Lately on YouTube, I’ve noticed how creative I should be with my content, and how uncreative I actually am. All I’ve been doing is doing lets plays of the same games that other YouTubers have played. There’s nothing really special that differentiates my videos and their videos. Let’s not forget the fact that I have no idea what I’m doing. I only have a laptop (MacBook Air), which isn’t good for gaming or anything, as well as a camera and a tripod that I don’t even know how to use or set up properly. (I guess that part is more easily fixable, but I’ve never been a techy). And because I don’t have a “good” enough computer, I can’t really get a good enough editing software or recording software. Oh! And here’s the best part! I’m still in school, so it’s not the only thing I have to worry about. I can’t only focus on this. However, I do have one piece of good news. I am improving on my editing. I use iMovie right now, but I want to switch to something else because I want to have a computer with the Windows operating system. None of you have seen my editing though, because I haven’t uploaded any videos to YouTube with iMovie, simply because it’s a little hard to render the video down to my computer and upload it.

Anyway, I did come up with a few new creative series for Minecraft that I’m looking forward to starting. Again, I’m just not sure if I should start them on my old channel or do it on a new channel. So please leave a comment and give me some feedback on what you think I should do. It means a lot to me, and I definitely do not want to just quit. I am having so much fun and I want to keep it that way. YouTube has been a big part of my life for awhile now. I have had people cheer me up when I’m down, motivate me and encourage me when things got tough, and just help me get through days that are hard to get through. So I love being able to hopefully do that too and help others in return. So that’s the end of this blog post. I hope you enjoyed it! Top 3 Favourite Junk Foods

I always do blog posts that talk about eating healthy and how to lead a healthier lifestyle and what not, so today I thought I’d discuss my favourite junk foods; some of the foods that I eat that are not the healthiest for me but continue to eat anyway. 😋

First of all, I want to clarify that just because I’m doing a post like this doesn’t mean I eat these foods all day every day. It’s still important to keep a balance between healthy and unhealthy, and know your limits. It might take awhile to find that balance and understand it, but it’s all in the attempt to keeping your body healthy.

So without ado, let’s get started!

  1. Nutella 
    First on the list is Nutella nut spread. I absolutely love Nutella. It is probably my favourite food in general, or my favourite unhealthy food if you want to look at it that way. I could eat Nutella on bread or by itself just because I love the way it tastes.
  2. Ketchup flavoured potato chips 
    Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking: “Ugh ketchup chips? Gross”. But I actually enjoy ketchup chips. I don’t really know why. I don’t know what it is that I like about it. Probably the fact that I like ketchup. 😄
  3. Hershey Chocolate (with/without caramel) 
    Yes, I know I already said Nutella, but I just love chocolate okay? When I’m not eating Nutella, chances are I’m having some kind of chocolate, and Hershey is usually the one I’d go for. Whether it is the Hershey kisses, or a bar of it, or a piece with caramel in it. Caramel plus chocolate tastes amazing! If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out. Though, I can’t eat too much caramel at a time. It’s very sugary and upsets my stomach if I have too much.

Intuitive Eating

So recently I discovered another method that can lead to a healthier lifestyle. It’s called intuitive eating. This is not a diet, but instead a method to healthy eating. It’s something I picked up from Kati Morton. She is a licensed therapist that makes really helpful mental health videos on YouTube. Here is her YouTube channel.  The video I found on her channel about intuitive eating is right here.

So, I suppose you’re wondering what intuitive eating is. You know it has to do with eating food, but what is the difference between dieting and eating intuitively? Well, intuitive eating is basically eating normally, just like when you were a kid. Think about it. When you were a kid, your body tells you when you’re still hungry or full. Nowadays, we may tend to overeat, undereat, or restrict certain nutrients that our body needs. This is what this method is about: listening to our body.

Listening to your body is probably the best thing you could possibly do to help you live a healthier life. This means measuring the amount of hunger there is in your body. Whenever you eat a meal, your body will give you signals to tell you whether you are still hungry, full, or craving a certain nutrient. Sometimes our body is asking for more protein, carbohydrates, fat, iron, etc. The trick is to pay attention to these signals to be successful in this process.

I’ve been trying out this method since the beginning of September, about 3 weeks now. So far, I am loving it! It allows me to eat whatever I want, whenever I need it (notice how I said “need” instead of “want“). This is because whenever it’s supposed to be breakfast, lunch, or dinner time, I ask my body, “Okay. How hungry are you? Is it going to a full meal or some healthy snacks? More protein? Carbohydrates? Fruits? How about vegetables?” And depending on what my body wants, I will eat. I can even have Nutella if I’m craving it. Remember, Nutella has iron and nuts in it, which technically are somewhat healthy. Some days my body asks for that.

Furthermore, not only does this method help prevent overeating or undereating, but it can also help you control what you consume. For example, if you diet and say you aren’t allowed to have chips, what are you really thinking about? Exactly. That you really want to have chips. Your body is constantly craving that because you know you aren’t allowed to have it. Whereas, if you allow your body to have any food, it makes it a lot easier to control what you are eating. It may sound weird and confusing, but that’s just the way our bodies work.

When dieting, we split the mind and body apart so that the mind controls what the body eats. But if the body tells the mind what it wants to eat then it’s a lot more acceptable, respectable, and loving.

This is how we can start loving our bodies. Obviously we aren’t going to eat Nutella or chips 24/7 just because we told ourselves we can have it, but now we can focus on finding the correct balance of unhealthy and healthy while still allowing ourselves to eat everything there is.

Anyway, that’s the end of this blog post. I encourage you guys to try this as well. But remember, this method may not work for everyone! Maybe you might want to ask your doctor or dietician about this first. Though, if you do decide to try this, just start by listening to your body. You can even start with the scale technique: measuring on a scale of 1-10 how hungry or full you are before, during, and after each meal.

I imagine a lot of you have started school again, and whether you’re still in elementary school, transitioning to secondary school/high school, transitioning to college or university, or starting from anywhere inbetween, it can be quite hard figuring out how to adapt to a new school, classroom, and/or learning environment. So today I thought I’d explain how to do just that.

First things first, I’ll fill you in on where I stand in terms of the new school year. I have transitioned from high school to college in the last week, and more specifically I’m living in residence. So, this switch for me was quite difficult. I’m not sure why but it took a few days to get used to the environment. So without further ado, here are some tips and tricks you can try when going into a new environment and feeling somewhat anxious.

  1. Be yourself. 
    Don’t worry about what other people think of you. I know it may be easy to do this mentally, but really try to incorporate this into your daily life. Start noticing what you’re doing differently. For instance, if you did something that you think you normally wouldn’t do infront of people, make a mental note of it, and keep that train rolling.
  2. Be open to change. 
    Be open to change and uncertainty. Don’t fear it. You’re not going to know what happens every minute of your life, and that’s okay. So accept it, and it will be easier to deal with. I think this can kind of go along with flexibility. If you’re open to change and uncertainty without fearing it, it can make it easier to become more flexible. The quote I like to use is “expect the unexpected”.
  3. Say “yes” to everything. 
    Okay, maybe not everything, but definitely don’t completely shut down opportunities. The main purpose of including this to so you don’t miss out on any fun or interesting opportunities. This can also help you make friends in new environments. So keep your options open.
  4. Redefine your motivation. 
    I actually took this one from the internet. Here is the link if you want to read more about it. Some people might need some motivation to help them get started. So start with a willingness to adapt. Try to have a mindset that’s open and ready to accept and overcome uncertainty at any time. Wherever your motivation comes from, your parents, friends, people online, try to connect more with them. My motivation is from personal growth in general. So whatever I do, it’s best to think that my goal is always self-improvemnt.
  5. Keep time for yourself. 
    Don’t focus too much on trying to adapt to your new environment, otherwise you’ll end up tiring yourself out and be left unhappy. You have to make time for yourself to regroup with your thoughts and feelings.
  6. Try meditating. 
    Well, you don’t have to do some extreme meditation ritual or anything. But just sit down in a quiet place, close your eyes, and listen to silence. There are a bunch of meditation apps you could try if you want to take it a step further; Headspace and Calm are a couple examples.
  7. Set small goals. 
    As I like to say, “slow progress is still progress”. Don’t worry about jumping into something if you can’t. (*notice how I said “can’t” and not “want”). If you need an entire day to yourself and need to take the time to soak everything in, go ahead and take that time.
  8. Observe. 
    Lastly, observe others around you. Observe your environment, what changes in your day, how the people are like, etc. (I don’t really know what else to say about this one, sorry).

Finally, that is the end. I hope this helps you adapt to different situations you find yourself in. And remember, people react differently than you do. If you can adapt fairly easily than someone else, maybe have a short chat with them to see how their doing.

A Love for Space

I’ve been looking up at the moon and the stars a lot lately. I don’t know why, but I’ve really been loving space a lot more than I ever have in my life. So today I thought I’d talk about space and why I like it, and everything in it. So let’s get started!

So, recently I was going for a walk with my dog. It was pretty late, about 10:00pm, and I looked up at the moon. The moon was red. My initial reaction was like, “Whoa, why is the moon red?! That’s so cool!” After googling it, it turns out it was a lunar eclipse, which only happens once or twice a year. So, after this moment was when I really became more interested in space. It’s cool to see things in the sky, especially a lunar eclipse. That’s a pretty rare opportunity. I would totally like to know more about eclipses, lunar and solar.

I believe the main reason why I like space so much is because of the freedom it gives you. Just looking up at the sky during the day or at night and realizing that there is so much more out there. The universe is infinite. There are so many galaxies out there with so many planets, moons, and billions of stars that form amazing constellations. It looks so cool. Now, I don’t think I’m going to turn this interest into a career or anything, like an astronomer, simply because I don’t think I’d be good at it. This is more of a passion and a hobby than it is a career, in my opinion.

There is so much out there that we haven’t explored. For instance, like the possibility of actually finding alien life is so cool and exciting. Well, of course it can be a little bit scary, but isn’t that the best part? That you don’t know what you’ll find? We even started to find life on Mars. That’s so cool!

So, speaking of space, I thought I’d mention my favourite planet. They’re all pretty cool; it’s kind of hard to pick just one. And no it’s not Uranus (haha lol). Though, I think my favourite planet would have to be either Neptune, the blue planet, or Jupiter, the one with the spot. I would say what my favourite constellation is as well, but I haven’t actually gotten to that point of checking out different constellations. The only ones I know of are the big dipper and the little dipper. This interest of mine is only now starting to sprout, so I think it’s going to take some time for it to develop to be able to get to that point.
